PEMF Therapy & Stroke

A stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is disrupted. The brain needs a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients, which are carried to it by blood vessels. When blood flow to the brain is interrupted, brain cells can start to die within minutes. This can cause permanent brain damage or even death.

The symptoms of a stroke can vary depending on which part of the brain is affected. Common symptoms include sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking or understanding speech, sudden blurred or decreased vision in one or both eyes, sudden severe headache, dizziness, and difficulty with balance or coordination. These symptoms can occur suddenly and without warning, and it is important to seek medical attention immediately if they occur.

Ischemic stroke vs. Hemorrhagic stroke

There are two main types of stroke: ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Ischemic stroke is the most common type and occurs when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in the brain. This can be caused by atherosclerosis, a condition where fatty deposits build up in the walls of blood vessels and make them narrow and less flexible. Hemorrhagic stroke is less common but more severe, and occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures and bleeds into the brain.

What can cause a stroke?

The root causes of stroke can vary and may be related to lifestyle factors, medical conditions, or genetics. Common risk factors for stroke include high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, physical inactivity, and a family history of stroke or cardiovascular disease. Other factors such as age, gender, and race can also increase the risk of stroke.

What’s important to consider?

Diet

A healthy diet that is low in saturated and trans fats, salt, and sugar, and rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats can help to manage blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and weight, all of which are important in preventing stroke.

Physical activity

Regular physical activity can help to lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol levels, and manage weight, all of which can help to prevent stroke.

Stress

Chronic stress can contribute to the development of high blood pressure, a major risk factor for stroke. Practices such as meditation, yoga, deep breathing, and other relaxation techniques can help to manage stress and reduce the risk of stroke.

Sleep

Poor sleep quality or quantity has been linked to an increased risk of stroke. Getting adequate and restful sleep is important in preventing stroke.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been shown to help manage hypertension, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation, all of which can help to prevent stroke.

Chiropractic care

Chiropractic care can help to improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and manage pain, all of which can be beneficial in preventing stroke.

Herbal treatment

Certain herbs such as garlic, ginger, and turmeric have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting properties, which may help to prevent stroke.

Supplements

Supplements such as omega 3s, nattokinase, serrapeptase, bromelain, vitamin D, resveratrol, magnesium… are all beneficial for good cardiac function and blood flow.

How can PEMF benefit?

PEMF therapy has been shown to have a range of biological impacts that can support brain recovery after stroke. When a stroke occurs, it can cause damage to brain cells and disrupt the normal functioning of the brain. PEMFs can help to counteract this damage by promoting the growth and regeneration of brain cells, enhancing cellular function, and reducing inflammation.

One way that PEMFs promote brain recovery is by stimulating the production of new blood vessels in the brain. This process, known as angiogenesis, can help to restore blood flow to the damaged areas of the brain and promote the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to brain cells. This can help to support the growth and regeneration of new brain cells, which can help to improve neurological function after stroke.

Another way that PEMFs promote brain recovery is by stimulating the production of nerve growth factors. These are proteins that are essential for the growth, development, and survival of nerve cells. By promoting the production of nerve growth factors, PEMFs can help to support the growth and regeneration of new nerve cells in the damaged areas of the brain. This can help to improve neurological function and promote brain recovery after stroke.

PEMF therapy can also help to reduce inflammation in the brain after stroke. Inflammation is a natural response to injury, but it can also contribute to further damage to brain cells. PEMFs can help to reduce inflammation by promoting the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which are proteins that help to regulate the immune response and reduce inflammation. By reducing inflammation in the brain, PEMFs can help to support brain recovery after stroke.

Conclusion

Overall, PEMF therapy can support brain recovery after stroke by promoting the growth and regeneration of brain cells, enhancing cellular function, and reducing inflammation.

    Functional Approach to Athletes Foot

Athlete’s foot, also known as tinea pedis, is caused by a fungus. It is caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes, which thrive in warm, moist environments, such as sweaty shoes or locker room floors.
The infection often strikes in “athletes”, who tend to have sweaty feet stuck in tight-fitting shoes for long periods of time. However, the rash can affect non-athletes just as commonly – especially if you wear shoes all day and sweat. Athletes foot can also be spread from person-to-person via unwashed clothes, shared towels, and even contaminated floors.
